How important is copper content in selection of a bactericidal alloy?

Q: How important is copper content in selection of a bactericidal alloy?

A: Although copper is the active bactericidal ‘ingredient’ in CuVerro®, the selection of an appropriate alloy should be based on more than just copper content. This is because based on GLP testing, all EPA-registered copper alloys make the same registered EPA public health claims. So that accordingly, whether a registered copper alloy contains 60% or 100% copper, it performs to the same test standards, independent of copper content. So within the range of available CuVerro® options, selection should be made on desired form, color, clean-ability, durability and/or fabricate-ability etc.
