CARMEL, IND., July 16, 2013 – Attendees at the American Society for Healthcare Engineering of the American Hospital Association (ASHE) Conference and Exhibition taking place in Atlanta July 21-24 will be able to get hands-on demonstrations of locks, credentials, exit devices, door closers and other door hardware from Schlage, aptiQ, Von Duprin, LCN, Steelcraft and other brands on a full-size, working cross-corridor door in Ingersoll Rand Booth 611.

They will also be introduced to ActivClean™ Door Hardware made with CuVerro® Antimicrobial Copper Surfaces, which proactively protects hospital patients and staff from infectious bacteria1 with a copper alloy surface that continuously kills bacteria1, killing more than 99.9 percent of bacteria1 within two hours2. This portfolio of door hardware includes locks, push-pull latches, exit devices, pull handles and push plates and offers a new line of defense against bacteria1 that can cause healthcare associated infections (HAIs) in sensitive hospital environments.

Attendees will also be able to meet the Security Technologies’ healthcare team and reacquaint themselves with Kate Wickham who recently transitioned into a new role with Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies as Healthcare National Accounts Manager. Kate previously was with Ingersoll Rand’s Global Healthcare Practice and was the Director of Operations with ASHE before joining Ingersoll Rand.

1. Laboratory testing shows that, when cleaned regularly, CuVerro surfaces kill greater than 99.9% of the following bacteria within 2 hours of exposure: Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus aureus, Entrerobacter aerogenes,Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and E. coli O157:H7.

2. The use of CuVerro® antimicrobial copper products is a supplement to and not a substitute for standard infection control practices; users must continue to follow all current infection control practices, including those practices related to cleaning and disinfection of environmental surfaces. This surface has been shown to reduce microbial contamination, but it does not necessarily prevent cross contamination. It should not be interpreted that CuVerro is making claims to solely prevent HAI nor should it be implied that CuVerro products make such claims.
